Girls on Ice, (http://girlsonice.org), is a unique, FREE, wilderness science education program for high school girls. Each year a team of 9 teenage girls and 3 instructors spend 11 days exploring and learning about mountain glaciers and alpine landscapes through scientific field studies with professional glaciologists and mountaineers. The program is TUITION FREE to the girls through small grants, gifts from individuals, and generous support from the National Science Foundation, the Alaska Climate Science Center, and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. This year we are offering 2 expeditions!
- Girls on Ice NORTH CASCADES: Program dates: July 21-August 1, 2013. Open to all girls ages 15-18, international applicants too!
- Girls on Ice ALASKA: Program dates: June 21 – July 2, 2013. Open to Alaskan and Pacific Northwest girls, ages 15-18, only.
