You’re invited to the Seattle celebration of North Cascades National Park’s 50th anniversary
We’re throwing a 50th birthday party for our favorite national park and YOU’RE INVITED! Join us Sunday, October 14, at El Centro De La Raza in Seattle for a fun day of films, storytelling, art presentations and short talks from our region’s most amazing conservation and recreation voices. This event is free and conveniently located near the Beacon Hill Link light rail station.
The “Choose Your Adventure” birthday party celebrates the 50th anniversary of not only North Cascades National Park but also the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and the National Trails System Act. North Cascades Institute is partnering with more than 30 conservation, recreation and business groups to celebrate these milestones and the incredible places they protect, while looking ahead to the future of conservation and enjoyment of our great Northwest.
Whether you want to get up close with a large bird of prey, talk with a park ranger, hear inspiring speakers including former Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and the Institute’s co-founder and Executive Director Saul Weisberg, watch Yesenia Castro’s hit film about enjoying public lands as a first generation American or enjoy lunch from an assortment of food trucks and a beer garden, “Choose Your Adventure” offers a fun assortment of programs for the whole family.
Participating organizations include the National Parks Conservation Association, Latino Outdoors, Conservation Northwest, American Rivers, Seattle Audubon, Outdoor Asian, Defenders of Wildlife, Woodland Park Zoo, Upper Skagit Tribe, Washington Wild, Sierra Club, Trail Posse and many more!
We hope you will share in this celebration with us!
