Call to Contract Instructors

North Cascades Institute seeks to collaborate with contract instructors on virtual and field programming for 2023 and beyond! The Institute inspires environmental stewardship through transformative learning experiences, and we’re always looking for new instructors and topics to keep our offerings relevant and fresh. We’re motivated to change narratives in the outdoors, and diverse candidates looking to present their knowledge and lived experiences within the environmental fields are especially encouraged to apply.

Participants in our programs include outdoor enthusiasts, recreationists and conservationists as well as people involved in the arts. We want to grow the popularity of our virtual programs and connect new diverse audiences to the study, wonder and love of all outdoor spaces. In the field, we will continue our wide-ranging offerings in Washington State in the accessible day-trip format, with overnight programming considered as well.

Mount Baker Geology Hike with Doug Clark

>> Field programs are day-long outings accessible to people near their home communities, in more remote locations and also in North Cascades National Park. These are experiential and interactive.

People of the Sacred River with Scott Schuyler

>> Virtual programs take place over Zoom, and are typically around an hour in length. We are keen on presentations that utilize interactive educational practices.

Our programming has featured geologists, photographers, essayists, mycologists, poets, ornithologists, chefs, watercolorists, historians, adventure athletes and musicians, to name a few. We’re open to many ways of approaching the educational-environmental realm.
